Book of Mormon Party II

So we have never been big on entertaining at our house.

We don't really have many parties and maybe this is why.... Cause we don't know how to celebrate without dressing up, acting ridiculous, and making other people uncomfortable.

With that being said.

Welcome to our Book of Mormon Party!

We have started a tradition that every time we finish the Book of Mormon we have a party to commemorate the event.

We all choose someone to be in the BOM and then act it out.

Can you guess who we are?

Mormon passing the plates on to his son Moroni. I think Parker feels the seriousness of this responsibility.

Nephi trying to get the Brass Plates from wicked King Laban.

Nephi succeeding in retrieving the plates.

Abish helping the Lamonites realize that Ammon is a prophet and waking the queen and King Lamoni.

So Katie was suppose to be the queen, but Chase seems to be doing a great job.

The Brother of Jared

The finger of God lighting the stones that have been prepared.
(Anyone else notice that Jake and Parker weasled their way into 3 acts?)

Afterwards we ate unleavened sweetcakes (cookies) and played Book of Mormon trivia.

We had a good time and I was proud of my family for this accomplishment.

It hasn't been easy to gather the family each night to read the scriptures.

It seems like there is always something that tries to get in the way.

Like homework, piano, baths, sports, Parker puking, meetings, phone calls, screaming children, crying moms, etc.

But as we would sit and read I always felt a greater love for my family and a overwhelming gratitude for my many blessings.

It makes me feel like I at least did one thing right that day.

Your party looks amazing. That seriously is a great idea, I just can't see me being able to talk Jason in to it for some reason.

You're absolutely right about things getting in the way - for us it's mostly Mom getting ticked that the kids are being, well, kids I guess.

Way to go on finishing it again. It took us three years to finish the first time (approx. 5 verses a night). I think this time around it'll be even longer. We're only half way through Alma. I think we'll copy you and have a celebration too this time.

The bar has been raised and you guys continue to meet the standard. Way to step it up! I thought that dressing up was part of every party, so yours was perfect.
